May 26, 2020 — Marinaj Banquets & Events’ recent partnership with Great Plates Delivered has meant that hundreds more meals are being delivered to seniors across Moreno Valley.
The nation’s first Great Plates Delivered program was officially announced by Governor Gavin Newsome on April 24, 2020, and acts as a meal delivery service for senior citizens in California. Its purpose has been to help encourage older adults who may be at higher risk for COVID-19 to stay at home by delivering daily meals to them. The program also strives to provide essential economic stimulus to local businesses who may be struggling during the pandemic.
Marinaj Banquets & Events is proud to be partnering with this organization to ensure California’s older adults can stay healthy during these unprecedented times. We will be providing 10 meals a week through June 10th, with potential for a 2 month extension, to certain families across Moreno Valley. We are fully engaged in doing our part to sustain our community and offer relief from the COVID-19 pandemic, and we hope our community members know they can rely on our staff for support.
As part of our efforts, our in-house chef and registered dietitian, Jenny Shehata, will also be serving nutritious meals to encourage healthy lifestyles for families in need at this time. She has previously worked at Chino Valley Medical Center providing food and nutrition expertise and is well equipped to offer great nutrition advice and support.
We are excited to be involved in making our community a healthier, happier place to help people overcome the struggles that have been presented with by this worldwide pandemic. We know that as we all strive to do our part to help each other, we will come out of this pandemic stronger than ever before.
If you have parents or grandparents or know others in need who may benefit from the Great Plates Delivered program, you can sign them up for meals using the City of Moreno Valley’s Senior Eats page or the County of Riverside Senior Restaurant Eligibility Form. We encourage you to take advantage of this program to ease the burdens caused by the pandemic in the lives of your loved ones.
